If there’s one thing that’s true of user experience in 2019, it’s that it’s becoming more and more tied with digital experiences.
As emerging technologies continue to advance at incredibly rapid rates and digital products and services become even bigger parts of our day-to-day lives, it’s crucial that we have a continuing conversation about user experience in these areas.
And before incredible user experience comes effective user research.
In the case of emerging technologies, user research is so desperately required because they are just that: Emerging! These new products and services are exploring realms that we as both consumers and businesses have not got masses of experience in yet. That means that we’re still learning how to make products that utilise things like AI, AR/VR, Chatbots and IoT as brilliant to use as possible.
The importance of conducting incredible user research to really get to know the people that truly matter — your customers — cannot be overstated. After all, a technology can be hugely powerful and have the ability to change the world but, unless people want to and can use it, it will never reach its full potential.
What you’ve got to look forward to
We know that this is a conversation that needs to be had. However, it’s a big one! One that’s far, far to big to fit into a single blog post or even a month’s worth of content. We have so much to say on the topic of emerging technologies, user and market research and user experience that we decided to dedicate the rest of 2019 to it.
Yep, that’s right: Almost a full year of blog posts surrounding these important conversations.
Every month from now until the end of the year, we’re going to focus in on one emerging technology and talk about it in relation to conducting great user research and generating incredible user experiences. We’ll cover everything from service design in chatbots to UX and robotics, with plenty more topics in between to keep the conversation rolling.

In March, we’re kicking off our monthly specials with a focus on chatbots.
The use of chatbots and their huge potential is a real hot topic at the moment, so it seemed the perfect place to start. In our weekly blog posts (we’ll be publishing them every Thursday afternoon), we’ll be discussing chatbot trends to watch out for, the all-important things you need to know about good UX and chatbots and much, much more.
Keep on learning
On top of that, on Monday 4th March we’re going to be launching our YouTube channel, Snap Out TV, where you’ll be able to learn all of the nitty gritty about actually conducting user research. When watched in conjunction with reading our blog posts, you’ll be left with an arsenal of incredible user research and UX tools to use no matter which emerging technology you work in.
