Research in Health: Organ Donation Service Design for Polish Migrants

Organ donation among the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic community is challenging. There has been research on Black and Asian views toward organ donation and their user needs of an organ donation service. There had been no research for Polish migrants in the UK.

Dr Chloe Sharp conducted the first of its kind primary research on Polish migrants to explore user needs for organ donation services. The research was funded by the University of Bedfordshire and NHS Blood and Transplant. It was found that Polish migrants considered organ donation a positive act and would be willing to donate in the UK.

User needs of the service were complex as relatives were likely to be in Poland and the next-of-kin makes the final decision. To read more, you can read the article here.
