Research and Design in Health: NHS Health Check Service Design for a Local Council

NHS Health Checks in the UK, is a risk assessment prevention programme for individuals aged 40-74, typically done at a GP surgery.

Through analysing an NHS Health Check database with data from 30 GP surgeries, socio-demographic factors were analysed to explore user needs. It was found that users’ ethnicity and gender and the method of invitation impacted on whether patients used the service.

It was suggested that for improving service design for the NHS Health Check service, that the recruitment and invitation method was adapted and this could improve uptake. To read more, you can read the article here.
